The short answer
Not always. Some agricultural properties in Florida do not require a county permit for a barn at all. Others do. Which one applies depends on your property, and we will tell you which applies to your site when we quote your build.
AG exempt builds
When a property is AG exempt, there is no county permit to pull and no county inspections to call. That changes the paperwork. It does not change how the barn is built.
Every Woodys structure is engineered to your county's newest wind code, from 120 mph inland up to 170+ mph, whether a permit is pulled or not. Permitted builds
When the property is not AG exempt, we pull the permits and we call for the inspections. You do not have to deal with the building department yourself. Every Woodys structure is engineered to comply with the Florida Building Code, and a permitted barn is legal and on record.
Electrical and plumbing
Electrical and plumbing are outside our scope of work. We leave those systems to licensed trade professionals. Our crews build the structural shell, roofing, framing, concrete and siding. Once our construction permits are closed and finalized with your local building department, you are free to bring in your own contractors to run wires, install fixtures and finish the inside.
Site work comes first
A properly cleared, elevated, compacted and well drained foundation is critical to the structural integrity of the build. We recommend Dunwirkyn Land Development LLC for site work, and we can give your site work company the site specifications and clearance dimensions it will need.
How a build runs, start to finish
- Tell us the style, stall count, size, and your county and zip code. We get back to you within 24 hours.
- We quote your exact barn, free and with no obligation, and tell you whether your site is AG exempt or needs a permit.
- A 20% deposit at contract signing. The balance is split into milestone draws tied to the work, including a draw at concrete.
- Permits pulled and inspections called by us, whenever the property is not AG exempt.
- Your electrician and plumber come in once our permits are closed.
Licensed and insured
Woodys is fully state licensed (CRC1330830) and carries all required liability and workers' compensation insurance. Every frame is backed by a 5 year structural warranty that it is sound and meets Florida Building Code from the date of completion. More on our warranty.
