1. Are you licensed and insured in Florida?
Ask for the license number and look it up. Woodys is fully state licensed (CRC1330830) and carries all required liability and workers' compensation insurance.
2. What wind rating will my barn be engineered to?
The answer should be a number for your site, not a slogan. Every Woodys structure is engineered to your county's newest wind code, from 120 mph inland up to 170+ mph, set by your site coordinates. See what hurricane rated actually means.
3. Who handles permits and inspections?
We pull permits and call inspections whenever the property is not AG exempt. Some agricultural properties do not need a county permit at all, and we will tell you which applies. More in do you need a permit to build a barn in Florida.
4. Who actually builds it?
Our own crews frame and finish your barn, the same ones on every job. We do not hand your build off to whoever is cheapest that week. And there is no franchise and no middleman markup: you work with the family that owns Woodys, from the first sketch to the final inspection.
5. What exactly does the warranty cover?
- 5 year structural frame warranty: the frame is sound and meets Florida Building Code from the date of completion.
- 40 year manufacturer's material warranty on roof, wall and trim metal, through Mid Florida Metal.
- 1 year workmanship warranty on doors, shutters and wood wall panels, provided they are primed, painted, caulked or sealed on all sides and edges within 10 days of completion.
6. How do the payments work?
Be wary of paying far ahead of the work. We take a 20% deposit at signing, then draws at material delivery, concrete, framing and completion, so you pay as your barn actually goes up. Financing is available through Hearth.
7. What is not included?
Every builder draws the line somewhere, and you want to know where before you sign. Ours: electrical and plumbing are left to licensed trades once our permits close, site work is done by a site work company before we start, and on a red iron arena the footing, base and grading are separate. Your quote is itemized, and nothing gets added after you sign.
